内容摘要

外语是人们互相交流、传递信息、情感表达的载体，也是我们学习各国的先进技术、先进经验、先进管理、了解外国文化习俗的工具，掌握国际通用的英语将成为学习者能力的一个标志。随着中国的申博成功，中国的加入世界贸易组织，对外语人才的需求量越来越大，要求也越来越高，同时，世界经济的一体化、政治的多极化以及信息的全球化让世界成了一个“地球村”，英语的重要性更是日趋突出，这一切都对高校教育中的英语教学提出了挑战。显然，仅靠学校每天一节英语课是远远不够的。必须要将英语教学无限制地扩散和延伸，旨在使学生在学习专业知识的同时提高对英语的运用能力的双语教学也就应运而生了。高校实施双语教学是培养国际化人才的需要，在双语教学中教师面临着选择教学模式、处理文化冲突等问题，因而教师不仅要在专业素质和外语素质达到“双高”，还要具备开阔的专业视野、全球意识、高尚的文化品格和较强的文化批判力，才能保证在双语教学中实现其育人功能。本文论述了双语教学的一些基本问题，同时阐述了我国双语教学中存在的突出问题及其解决方法----双语教师的严重短缺与双语教师的学术培训以及综合素质的提高。
