语用视角下中美外交语中模糊限制语的对比研究

内容摘要

众所周知,模糊性是自然语言的基本属性之一,并且广泛存在于语言使用中。作为模糊语家族的一员,模糊限制语多年以来引起了国内外学者的极大兴趣。在外交活动中,外交官经常借助于模糊限制语的使用来实现某种目的。并且,伴随全球化进程的加快和中国科学技术的快速发展,中国在与世界其他国家的交流中占有举足轻重的地位,因此有必要对外交语言中的模糊限制语进行跨文化研究。本文旨在对中美外交语言中的模糊限制语进行对比研究,探讨两种语言中是否存在相似或不同之处。从网络上收集中美外交官的讲话各5篇。然后本文采用普林斯及其同事对模糊限制语的分类方法,对收集的材料中的四类模糊限制语的频率进行定量分析。通过比较分析得出一些结论。其分布情况显示出四种不同类型的模糊限制语在两种语言中都有使用,但不同的是中国人和美国人对模糊限制语的偏好类型不同。相比较而言,美国外交官喜欢用缓和型模糊限制语,而中国外交官则偏好变动型模糊限制语。与此同时,本文以耶夫·维索尔伦的顺应理论为基础,从语用角度对外交语言中的模糊限制语进行分析。外交官的模糊限制语的选择事实上就是一种语境顺应。随后根据收集的材料,总结出不同类型的模糊限制语的实现形式及其在外交语言中的语用功能：显示礼貌、保全面子,使语言表达准确客观,以及自我保护功能。期望本文的研究能对人们更好的理解政治语言及日常交流中的模糊限制语提供帮助。
