文化翻译中的归化与异化

内容摘要

1990年,巴斯奈特和勒菲弗尔提出翻译研究中的“文化转向”,指出翻译不仅仅是语言转换,更是文化交际。于是,翻译由语言翻译转向文化翻译。在文化翻译的过程中,译者不免遇到文化差异问题,常常要求助于两大翻译策略,即归化和异化,来实现成功的翻译。归化策略的代表人物是奈达,他提倡动态对等,通过一读就懂的译文,产生良好的读者反应。异化策略的代表人物是韦努蒂,他呼吁尽力再现源语文化的异国情调,达到文化交际的成功。选择切丽·布莱尔自传道出真我(共32章)作为归化异化的个案研究,原因有二：第一,它含有丰富的文化因素,在文化交流上将产生一定影响；第二,本文的作者有幸参与了前27章的翻译实践,在理论和实践结合方面有一定的亲身体验,这对翻译研究是非常重要的。本文第一章阐述语言、文化和翻译的关系,划分出三大文化：物质文化、制度文化和精神文化；在文化划分的基础上,作者努力梳理文化翻译和文化交际这两大概念。第二章阐述文化翻译中的两大策略即归化和异化的起源、定义和争论。第三章阐述影响两大翻译策略的五个因素。第四章是切丽·布莱尔自传道出真我中归化异化的策略分析。通过文献梳理和个案研究,本文得出结论：两大翻译策略各有千秋,过分强调任何一种策略都是不科学的,应该辩证地、历史地评价两者的优缺点。在实际的翻译过程中,应该全面考虑语境、目的和文本等因素,灵活应用两种翻译策略,增强翻译的文化交际功能。
