试论文化语境下韦努蒂的异化翻译策略

内容摘要

根据传统翻译理论,即使当文章的语境改变的时候,原文的意义也是明确的,一成不变的。因此,在西方和中国的翻译史,盛行着对翻译理论的静态理解。然而,直到20世纪60年代解构主义的兴起,这种传统的翻译观念受到质疑和挑战。解构主义者认为意义是多元,因情况而异的,而不是一成不变的;原文是由许多语意的可能性构成,在翻译的文本之中只能呈现出一种意义;并且原文和译文具有衍生性,包含了诸多材料均是在原作者和译者期待和意图之外的。美籍意大利学者劳伦斯-韦努蒂根据解构主义思想和后殖民主义的理论,提出了“抵抗式”的异化翻译策略。鉴于目前翻译理论研究局限于纯语言学的研究,如何从文化语境的角度对翻译学进行反思有着重大意义。正如王宁所说:它一方面将填补国内这方面研究的空白,另一方面也可以结合中国学者的研究时间来和国际同行进行讨论。[1]因此,在文化语境以及在文化多元化的形势下,译者如何让能够顺应这一形势并对其善加利用,把我国灿烂的文化瑰宝翻译成英文,进而介绍到世界,让更多的人了解到中国的传统文化。因此,在翻译过程中,译者应尽量保留我国传统文化的特色,在不可译的文本中应采取异化翻译的翻译策略。当然,异化翻译策略也有其局限性,文章通过对于其局限性的论述,在文化语境的背景之下根据文本的种类,读者的意图提出了新的解决方略。本篇论文主要由六个部分组成。第一章为前言部分,介绍了该论文的研究背景、研究方法以及该研究的现实意义。在第二章,作者历时介绍了解构主义,这为韦努蒂的异化翻译策略提供了理论基础。第三章,作者首先对文化语境的定义进行阐释,同时论述了语言,文化以及翻译三者之间的关系。由于语言是文化的载体,所以在翻译过程中如何传递文化信息就显得尤为重要。第四章是文章的主要部分,通过分析红楼梦的两个译本,指出在跨文化视角之下异化翻译策略的优点,为今后翻译理论的发展提出了新的发展方向。第五章在以上分析的基础之上,指出了异化翻译策略存在的不足,并提出相应的解决方略。第六章为本文的结论。
