初中英语词汇学习策略实证研究

内容摘要

20世纪70年代以来,外语教学研究从研究“怎样教”转移到研究“怎样学”,从研究“教师”转移到研究“学生”。第二语言学习策略的研究就是在这样的背景下产生的。曾经对不同方面的学习策略进行研究,最后得出结论:学生学习词汇时使用的策略最多。鉴于词汇在语言习得中的重要作用,词汇学习策略开始受到重视。国外和国内的学者在此领域已经做了许多研究,但对初中生的词汇学习策略还不多,文秋芳就曾经指出国内对中学生学习策略的研究还刚刚起步。初中生,在英语水平和认知发展阶段上具有不同于成人的特征,因此他们在词汇策略上也具有自己的特征。研究他们使用的词汇策略,一方面可以帮助提高学生和教师的策略意识,另一方面可以对学生的词汇学习和教师的教学产生启发,从而促进学习和教学,尤其是为准备对学生进行策略培训的教师提供参考。因此,本研究将对象定位于初中学生。本文旨在研究初三学生英语词汇学习策略使用情况,共涉及江苏金坛市区4所初中共4个班的226个学生。本研究通过问卷和访谈的方式,对这些学生使用的英语词汇学习策略进行了调查和细致的分析,目的在于为有意对学生进行策略培训的教师提供参考。研究结果表明:研究对象的词汇学习策略使用属于中等水平;在社会、认知、记忆、元认知四类策略中,认知策略使用最多,记忆策略使用最少;5个词汇学习策略使用频率最高;11个策略使用频率最低;研究对象倾向使用对认知要求不高的词汇策略,他们喜欢用方便简单的策略。最后,本文提倡教师应该加强对学生词汇学习策略的训练,使学生在学习中更有效地使用策略,尤其在元认知和记忆策略的使用上要给与更多的重视。
