高中男、女生英语词汇学习策略差异及对其英语词汇学习的影响

本研究以O’Malley and Chamot (1990)英语学习策略和Gu and Jonson (1996)英语词汇学习策略为理论框架,调查高中男、女生英语词汇学习策略使用上的差异和高中男、女生词汇量的总体情况,进而探索高中男、女生英语词汇学习策略上的差异对其英语词汇学习的影响。研究问题包括：1)高中男、女生的英语词汇学习策略是否不同?2)高中男、女生对词汇学习策略的选择与他们词汇量是否相关?其中第二个研究问题又分为两个子问题：(1)高中男、女生的英语词汇量是否存在差异?(2)他们在英语词汇学习策略方面的差异对他们的词汇量有何影响?本研究采用定性与定量相结合的研究方法,受试来自广州越秀外国语学校的70名高一年级学生。研究工具包括问卷调查、访谈、词汇量测试等。数据来自从70名高一年级学生中随机选出的男生和女生各30名。研究表明：1)高中男、女学生在英语词汇学习策略方面存在差异。总体而言,女生使用英语词汇学习策略多于男生,认知策略的使用表现得尤为明显。在具体策略运用方面,男、女生之间也存在差异：女生经常使用记笔记策略而男生很少使用此策略；男生比女生更多地使用意义编码策略；男、女生虽然都经常运用为理解内容而查字典的策略,但女生对此策略的使用明显多于男生。2)总体来讲,高中女生词汇量大于男生男生的词汇成绩分布不均匀,低分较多,但高分特别高；女生词汇成绩相对男生分布较平均。3)女生较好的语言能力和更积极使用词汇学习策略使她们获得了较大的英语词汇量和取得较好的英语词汇学习成绩。4)有些英语词汇学习策略和词汇量大小有密切联系,而有些策略与词汇量相关度不高。有些策略对扩大男生词汇量很有帮助但对女生效果不显著,反之亦然。本研究表明,高中男、女生在英语词汇学习策略选择和使用方面存在差异,这些差异对他们的英语词汇学习具有影响。研究结果对高中英语词汇教学和词汇策略训练具有一定的借鉴和参考意义。
