脱口秀节目中面子威胁行为的顺应策略研究

内容摘要

本文的研究对象是一些优秀的脱口秀节目中缓和面子威胁行为的话语。近年来，由于其在日常生活与工作中的广泛运用，礼貌问题已经引起了许多语言研究者的关注。虽然很多杰出的语言学家就礼貌问题提出了自身的理论，但Brown和Levinson于1978年提出的面子理论最具影响力。他们认为“面子”是每个人都想要和期望其他人认可的在公众中的自我形象。一旦有人威胁到了听话人的面子，FTA(face threatening act)继而产生。作为一类典型的谈话类节目，脱口秀的说话人需要更多的礼貌策略来减轻说话人对听话人的言语冒犯，从而形成一种和谐的谈话氛围。因此在脱口秀节目中，缓和面子威胁行为的言语作为一种很有效的语用策略倍受青睐。尽管如此，就这一领域的研究相对不足，且以往关于礼貌的一些理论研究并不能很好的诠释面子威胁行为现象的产生。Verschueren的顺应论从一个新的语用学视角很好地阐释了对被缓和的面子威胁行为对礼貌现象的动态顺应，其中包括对主持人和嘉宾双方社交世界和心理世界的顺应。鉴此，本文拟以Verschueren的顺应论为理论框架，对脱口秀节目中关于缓和面子威胁行为的言语进行较为全面的分析。本文属于基于语料的定性研究，语料主要来自一些权威的脱口秀节目的出版物。通过分析对缓和面子威胁行为言语的顺应，本文拟回答以下三个问题：1、脱口秀节目中选择缓和面子威胁行为策略的产生机制是什么？2、面子威胁行为语用策略在脱口秀节目中是如何得以实现的？3、这些策略在脱口秀节目中有何语用功能？在研究中，就第一个问题进行研究后发现，缓和面子威胁行为言语的选择是说话人动态顺应交际双方的社交世界和心理世界等语境因素的结果。针对第二个问题，本文研究了三种在脱口秀节目中缓和面子威胁行为的语用策略，其中包括闪避回答、语用移情以及模糊限制语，认为说话人会根据自身交际的需要做出恰当的选择。通过对最后一个问题的分析，本文发现以上策略具有如下语用功能：避免冲突、保护自我以及展示言语的礼貌性和温和性。面子威胁行为在日常交际中不可避免，因此，本研究不仅希望更好的阐释顺应论对礼貌现象的强大解释力，也期望有助于访谈双方及观众更好地理解和策略性地使用言语。
