从目的论视角看《阿凡达》电影字幕翻译

内容摘要

本论文尝试从目的论的角度对电影的字幕翻译活动进行研究和分析,探索目的论下适用于电影字幕翻译的原则、技巧。目的论认为,翻译是一种有目的的行为,翻译目的决定翻译原则、技巧,电影字幕翻译也不例外,其主要目的是在时间和空间的制约下,向处在特定文化背景的观众最有效地传达相关信息,使其能更好地理解和欣赏电影作品,从而赢得更多的票房以便最大限度地实现影片在目标语文化中的商业价值。目的论满足了字幕翻译的特殊要求,对字幕翻译具有很强适应性。因此为了实现电影字幕翻译的目的,译者应该在目的论的框架下遵循相关的翻译原则并采取特定的翻译技巧。首先本文采用描述解释性研究方法,分析了字幕翻译的目的,限制因素,影响因素,从语言和文化两个角度提出了目的论下适用于字幕翻译的原则,然后以《阿凡达》中的中英文字幕作为个案进行研究,进一步阐述目的论对于电影字幕翻译的适用性,通过运用目的论对《阿凡达》电影字幕大量译例的分析,从语言和文化两个角度总结出的目的论下可以用来指导翻译实践的一些有用的翻译技巧。最终得出结论：《阿凡达》电影字幕翻译除了很少一些失败的译例,总体上是成功的。目的论作为一种理论可以用来指导电影字幕翻译。
