从关联顺应理论角度分析情景剧《老友记》字幕汉译

内容摘要

网络媒体的繁荣让人们有更多的机会领略国外的电影和电视剧。美国情景剧《老友记》以其幽默风趣的语言和真实的生活情节吸引了众多的影迷。作为一种新兴和特殊翻译模式,情景剧字幕翻译已经成为翻译不可或缺的一个组成部分,因此深层次地探讨情景剧字幕翻译显得格外必要。本文即以关联顺应理论为基础分析了美国情景剧《老友记`》的中文字幕翻译。本文用关联顺应理论对《老友记`》的中文字幕作了尝试性的一研究,旨在探讨此剧中文字幕是否与关联顺应理论相符合。关联顺应是一个新模式,这个新模式以Sperber & Wilson(1986, 1995)的关联理论,Verschuere的顺应理论(1987,1995,1998,1999)作为理论基础,阐明了以下几点:首先,据此模式,关联性是人类的认知活动的基础。任何话语都会建立一个具有关联顺应性并值得听话人付出努力的假设,或称之“最佳关联假设”。因此,说话者的任务就是表达与听话者相关联的语言信息,而听话者要找到满足最佳关联的语言理解。其次,话语具有多样性,协商性和顺应性。这些特点使翻译者能在交流过程中可以根据语境和接收者的接受能力对交流的形式做出调整和选择。交流过程同时包含语言和语境的选择过程,语言的选择和语境资源的选择是密不可分的。因此,语言的使用是语言和语境在各个层面上的选择过程。最后,为了实现比较完美的中文字幕翻译,翻译者身兼两职:1)读者,要在原文本中寻找最佳关联;2)创作者或者协调者,在翻译成中文过程中不断地做出语言形式的选择,以期此情景剧的观众能从此剧的中文字幕中获得最佳关联。这种模式能比较充分地解释为什么在一些中文翻译中译者抛弃一些直译而对其作了调整。当然这个模式也有其缺陷,只希望翻译工作者和其他相关研究者跟多地关注和研究字幕翻译,进一步促进影视界的交流。
