语用歧义及其理解、限制和利用

内容摘要

歧义无处不在。在语言运用的过程中,几乎各个层面如语音、词汇、句法结构、语用等都会产生歧义现象。如果不加避免,歧义就会给我们的交际带来困难。然而歧义并不完全是一种消极的语言现象,有意识地利用歧义,可以产生积极的修辞效果。英语中多种修辞格就是歧义的积极利用。研究语用歧义不但可以帮助我们提高语言理解能力与欣赏水平,而且可以帮助我们提高语言运用能力和语言表现力。我国语言学界对英语歧义的研究起步较晚,学者们分别从语音、句法、语义、语用等不同角度进行了研究,成果散见于学术刊物中。但这些研究尚处于初级阶段,特别是在语用领域。鉴于目前对语用歧义研究的相对欠缺,本文将着重从语用歧义出发,研究对语用歧义的形成、理解、限制及其利用。通过对大学生的测试,得出影响歧义理解的主要因素,并利用关联理论进行分析得以正确理解。最后,指出研究语用歧义在教学、翻译以及文学欣赏方面的作用。
