汉英“水”隐喻的比较研究

内容摘要

隐喻研究在长达2000年的历史中经历了从语言层面向认知层面的转变。水作为人类作为熟悉的物质之一,在人的认知和概念系统中扮演着重要的角色,因而产生了大量关于水的隐喻。在最近几十年里,许多学者开始从认知角度研究水隐喻。然而,这些研究主要集中在关于水隐喻的语言描述和文化对比层面,忽视了这些隐喻产生的内在动机和隐喻在塑造文化方面的重要作用,因而是不全面的,也是缺乏深度的。为了弥补前人研究的不足,本论文在Lakoff和Johnson的概念隐喻的理论框架下对英汉水隐喻进行了对比研究,旨在达到以下几个目标：(1)对英汉语料库中的水隐喻做出全面的分类；(2)总结英汉水隐喻的异同点；(3)探究英汉水隐喻映射异同的深层原因。为了确保语料的可信性和有效性,本论文采用了语料库研究法,主要包括COCA, CCL这两大语料库。通过对语料的分析本文得出以下结论：(1)水隐喻在中英文中都是非常普遍的。文中共概括出20个有关水的隐喻,这些隐喻涉及范围非常广泛,包括意识形态、社会行为、社会关系等。(2)这些隐喻并不是单独或者孤立存在的,而是系统地、有条理地构建的,因而使我们形成了关于水的完整的、全面的、连贯的理解。(3)由于概念隐喻文化一致性的特征,中英文中水隐喻个性和共性并存。隐喻根植于人类的认知,而人类的认知在不同的文化中具有普遍性,因而中英文中有大量相似的水隐喻存在；但是,文化差异(文中主要指不同的地理环境,不同的世界观、时间观、宗教信仰)对我们认识世界产生了重要影响并制约了我们对隐喻的选择,因而导致了中英文中不同水隐喻的存在。尽管本研究还存在一些缺陷和不足,但它具有较大的理论和实践意义。理论上,本文验证并丰富了概念隐喻理论；实践上,本文有利于促进语言教学、跨文化交流和翻译学习的深入研究。
