奥巴马演说词汉译中的有意误译研究

内容摘要

作为翻译研究中的关键词,误译通常被等同于错译,被认为是违背忠实准则的翻译失误,而事实上,误译与任何事物一样,具有两面性和相对性。在以往误译研究的基础上,本研究将误译分为无意误译和有意误译两类,并对其内涵进行了界定。无意误译即通常意义上的翻译错误,而有意误译是译者综合考虑各种影响因素,经过适当取舍后,采取的一种翻译策略或方法,具有可阐释性和合理性。显然,前者是应该而且可以避免的,而后者若运用得当,则会产生意想不到的积极效果,具有较高的研究价值,这也正是本文仅将有意误译作为研究对象的原因。鉴于以往对有意误译的研究往往过于抽象,本研究以奥巴马演说词汉译本中的具体有意误译现象为研究对象,首先对所选演说词汉译本中的有意误译进行了归纳分类,通过定性分析解释其必然性,然后以切斯特曼提出的五种翻译伦理模式为理论基础对其深入分析,并对不同版本的译文进行了对比,以进一步说明其成因和效果。分析表明五种翻译伦理模式之间既相互联系,也存在着不可避免的内在矛盾,这些矛盾往往会使译者在实际翻译过程中陷入困境。因此,本研究对翻译伦理模式对有意误译的解释力进行了反思。事实上,五种伦理模式之间并非是平行关系,而是一种层次关系,有宏观和微观层面之分,译者在遭遇翻译困境时,可以依据这种层次结构厘清重点主次关系,作出合理的决策和选择。正是这些矛盾促使译者选用有意误译的策略解决翻译问题,精益求精,追求最佳译文。最后,本研究探讨了有意误译的度的问题,并基于翻译伦理模式理论尝试性地建立了有意误译的评价标准,以期为翻译批评提供指导。
