从格式塔意象再造看汉语散文翻译的审美再现

内容摘要

散文享有“美文”之誉,其语言优美凝练,风格自由灵活,意象丰富多样,被视为“语言的艺术”和“情感的艺术”。每一篇散文作为完整的艺术整体,是言、象、意及其结构的高度整合,也是一个复杂的审美意象系统。本论文以姜秋霞教授所提出的文学翻译审美过程中的格式塔意象再造为视角,以张培基《英译中国现代散文选》中的译文为例,对汉语散文翻译的审美再现进行了初步的研究。审美再现是主体将经过加工的审美体验“物态化”。格式塔意象是译者对原作的整体把握和对某一艺术形象的完整审美体验。译者通过语言认知和审美体验双重活动认识理解原文,在大脑中建构一个格式塔意象,再用译文语言将此意象再造,方可实现文学艺术的有效转换与再现。格式塔意象的转换意味着审美体验的有效传达。本论文以格式塔意象再造为视角,通过译例分析,首先探讨了汉语散文翻译审美再现的内涵和审美再现的标准;其次讨论了审美再现中整体与部分的相互关系,并根据汉语散文的基本特点和言、象、意及其结构的高度整合性,阐释了汉语散文审美再现的基本层面;最后,根据前文的分析,本论文还为译者提供了些许可供参考的拙见。本论文主要得出了以下结论:第一,汉语散文翻译的审美再现实质上也是格式塔意象的语言再造,这样才能整体再现原文的美感因素和语言意义,实现原文与译文更高层面的审美对等而不是语言形式或局部审美效果的简单对应,从而使译文读者获得与原文读者相同或相似的审美体验。第二,“和谐”不仅是译者要整体再现的审美效果,也是译者应遵从的审美标准。和谐是以原作与译作的有机整体性为基础,对审美再现的整体把握,有助于实现局部的审美意义和整体的审美和谐与对等。第三,译者应按照审美要求,遵从和谐的审美标准,从意象系统、风格和语言结构这三个层面进行格式塔意象的语言再造。这三个层面相互关联,与整体不可分割,这样才能整体再现原文的美感因素和语言意义,产生连贯和谐的译文,实现原文与译文的审美对等。通过上述分析和阐释,本论文也说明了格式塔意象再造对汉语散文翻译审美再现的指导意义和应用价值。
