从语篇衔接视角对比研究国内重点大学简介及其英译

内容摘要

衔接是语篇的重要特征。一组句子是否能组成完整的语篇取决于句子之间的衔接关系。韩礼德和哈桑(1976)的《英语的衔接》一书首次把衔接分为语法衔接和词汇衔接,对衔接进行了系统的研究。该书的出版标志着语篇衔接理论的开端。语篇衔接理论和语篇衔接对比在国内外都有过广泛的研究,但是通过检索中国知网(CNKI),我们发现很少有论文从语篇衔接视角对大学简介及其英译进行过对比研究。为了促进与其他国家的交流与合作,国内大学的网页都有对应的英文版,这也有利于本文的研究和对等语料的建立。本文从语篇衔接的视角,以国内15所著名大学简介及其英译本作为语料,采用定性与定量研究的方法,并通过使用Word和Excel的相关功能,对其进行了对比研究,旨在探索英汉语篇衔接手段的异同,并力图解释产生异同的根源。研究发现：汉语中的照应、替代与连接手段没有英语中的多,汉语更倾向于省略这些衔接手段；汉语中省略和词汇衔接的出现频率则比英语中的要高。之所以会产生这种差异,是与语言文化有关的。汉语重意合,更倾向于强调意义的表达；而英语重形合,更注重语法形式。以上研究结果对翻译具有一定的启发作用。本文就每种衔接手段尝试性地提出了一些翻译策略(如：省略、详述和转变等),并指出其对提高翻译质量的指导意义。
