现代汉语定语从句结构的生成语法研究

内容摘要

定语从句结构一直以来都是生成语法学界研究的一个热点问题。文献中的讨论主要集中在两个问题：从句结构的推导过程以及从句的限定性研究。然而，语言学家们对于这两个问题的回答存在着很大分歧。本文旨在就汉语语料对这两个问题作进一步分析，并尝试从普遍语法的角度对其做出解释。本文首先比较了有关生成定语从句结构的两种理论，认为匹配论(the matching analysis)更加适合于汉语。作者认为，汉语中的从句结构有三种生成途径：空代词法是自然语言普遍采用的途径；回指成分法是部分自然语言共有的方法；而采用上下文允准的空算子(empty operator)法则是只存在于诸如汉语和日语等中心语居后的语言中，用以生成所谓的‘虚假从句’(peudo-relatives)。其中前两种方法所受到的限制在各种语言中是一致的。对于第二个问题，作者认为：居于名词与数量短语之间的(non-peripherral)从句为限定性的，其中心语为NP；居于左侧(left-peripheral)的从句在普通重音下为非限定性的，而在带有对比重音的情况下为限定性的，其中心语为NumP。为证明上述观点，作者分析了含有两类从句的结构，认为它们在语义和语用方面具有不同的诠释，并将其原因归结于两类从句的差异。
