内容摘要


This thesis is a research on modern Chinese popular miusic from 1978 to 1996. with the methods employed in the study of music history, music aesehetics, music culture and music sociology. It gives a historical description and analysis of the development of this period, features of each phase in this period, and the relationship of modern popular music with social and cultural environment.This thesis consists of four chapters.Chapter One makes a general conclusion of the development of modern Chinese popular music from 1978 to 1996 on the basis of important events and phenomena of each phase. It proposes a classification of the developing phases from 1978 to 1996:Phase One (19784985) : the initial stage in the development of modern Chinese popular music.Phase Two(1986-1988) the first climax.Phase Three(1989-1992) : the first adjustment.Phase Four(l993-1994) the second climax.Phase Five(l995-l996) the second adjustment.Chapter Two is an analysis of the characteristics of each phase.Chapter Three makes a conclusion of the cultural features of popular music from the viewpoints of culture and sociology and on this basis gives a new definition of popular music. This chapter puts stress on the influence of modern cultural and social environment in China on the devetopment of popular music and their mutual relation, and therefore proposes a new idea that modern Chinese popular music is a multicellular cultural organism and that the changes and development of modern social and cultural environment in China have decided the features of each phase in the development of popular music.The final part of this chapter provides a detailed introduction of the research products of this thesis.Chapter Four provides a chronicle of modern Chinese popular music as an appendix to this thesis.
