对迪伦·托马斯诗歌的功能和认知文体学分析

内容摘要


作为两大主要方法,文学批评和文体分析一直被广泛用来分析文学作品。近年来,文体分析因其客观性而取得了突飞猛进的发展,不同的文体学派应运而生。本文借助功能语言学和认知语言学理论,从语境、隐喻和象似性三个角度对英国诗人迪伦·托马斯不同创作时期的五首诗歌进行了文体分析。本文的主要目的在于通过选择和分析能够表达和深化作品的主题意义和美学效果的语言结构,揭示语境因素、隐喻和象似性手段如何丰富诗歌的内含以及帮助读者进行诗歌解读,从而例证功能语言学和认知语言学理论有着很强的实用性和可操作性,不失为文体分析的有效途径和方法。同时,帮助读者更好地理解和欣赏迪伦·托马斯的诗歌也是本文的主要意图之一。本文运用理论阐述与实例分析相结合的方法,首先介绍了作为理论基础的文学文体学,尤其是功能文体学和认知文体学的相关理论,以及诗人作品的主题和写作特色,从而阐明作者的选题目的和意义。接下来,语境、隐喻和象似性三个角度自然地勾勒出了本文的写作框架。在理论研究部分,作者采用了比较的方法,除象似性外,对语境和隐喻分别从功能语言学和认知语言学角度对其概念,分类和相关理论等进行了探讨,旨在说明两者各自的优势与不足。但是作者认为功能语法关于语境的理论比较完善,而认知语言学对隐喻的解释力则强于功能语言学,因而两章各有侧重。在理论的实际应用部分,则采用了实例分析的方法。遵循“描写—解读—评价”的分析模式,分别分析了语境、隐喻和象似性在迪伦·托马斯诗歌中的体现及其在深化诗歌主题和体现美学效果中的作用,从而使读者对其诗歌有更深刻而准确的理解。通过分析作者得出如下结论:文体分析尤其是文学文体分析,能够为文学作品的解读提供科学的可靠的语言学依据,因而比传统的文学批评更具客观性、合理性和解说力;功能文体学和认知文体学作为文体学的两个派别,不是对立的,而是互补的,两者结合才能够更好地解读文学作品;隐喻和象似是诗歌语言的主要文体特征,而诗歌理解又离不开语境,因此从这三个角度对诗歌进行分析是可行和有效的;借助语言学分析方法,托马斯诗歌的主题不再是捉摸不定的,其语言也不再是晦涩难懂的,而是都能够得到推理和解释的。
