中美大学生恭维赞赏及应对策略的对比研究

内容摘要

本文从跨文化交际的角度对中美大学生恭维赞赏及应对策略的异同进行了研究,目的是促进跨文化交际和提高外语学习者的语用能力。该研究的理论框架是Austin和Searle的言语行为理论,Leech, Brown和Levinson的礼貌策略以及顾的礼貌原则。本文旨在研究下面六个问题:(1)中美大学生在给予恭维赞赏时,各自使用了那些策略?(2)中美大学生在给予恭维赞赏时,各自所使用策略的分布是怎样的?(3)中美大学生在给予恭维赞赏时,所使用策略的差异和共性分别表现在何处?(4)中美大学生在回应恭维赞赏时,各自使用了那些策略?(5)中美大学生在回应恭维赞赏时,各自所使用策略的分布是怎样的?(6)中美大学生在回应恭维赞赏时,所使用策略的差异和共性分别表现在何处?本研究的对象为80位中美在校大学生,60位来自常州工学院,20位来自美国Albuquerque城市的新墨西哥大学。调查问卷DCT引用自叶(1995)。数据分析分为三步:1)对策略加以分类,2)利用SPSS 13.0计算策略分布的频率,3)用T-检验(t-test)分析了主要策略频率分布是否存在显著性差异。研究发现:1.中美大学生在给予恭维赞赏时,都采用了五种相同的恭维策略,并且都较多倾向于使用直接赞扬策略。但中国大学生给予直接赞扬时多用第二人称,以程度副词和形容词加强语言效果。美国大学生多用第一人称,多使用形容词和动词,且“我喜欢你的…”句式出现频率最高;2.中美大学生在回应恭维赞赏时,合并式策略有较高使用频率;且在使用接受策略时,呈现最大的共性。3.在回应恭维赞赏时,中国大学生采用了八种策略,而美国大学生采用了其中的六种策略;中国大学生使用最多的是修正策略,而美国大学生使用最多的是接受策略。4.本次调查中,美国大学生在回应恭维赞赏语时更多倾向于接受赞赏,这与国外的一些调查研究结果相一致。中国大学生在回应恭维赞赏语时,也是更多倾向于接受赞赏而不是拒绝,这说明Leech的同意原则比顾的谦逊原则更多体现在当今中国大学生的这一言语行为中。本研究有两个不足,一是两组调查对象的人数不均衡,二是通过DCT问卷方式所收集的语料没有在真实情景收集的语料真实,不能充分反映真实情景中的语言交际特点。
