内容摘要

本文在综述国内外有关语言、文化和思维三者关系，文化教学目的的文献的基础上提出学习新语言的过程就是学习新文化的过程，其中涉及到学习者的心理发展。在综述关于认知学派的建构主义、人本主义和社会互动理论等教育心理学研究方法及其对语言教学的启示文献的基础上，本文介绍了美国学者Patrick R.Moran有关文化教学过程中文化知识的体验式学习循环模式。该模式从学习者视点出发规范课堂文化教学，为教师中介作用的研究提供了主要的研究方面。本文从文献综述中得出的结论是：培养学生的个人能力不仅有助其对所有接触到的外国文化的理解，而且个人能力的提高将有助于其人格的进一步完善。根据社会互动理论，中介者是指在学习者认知发展过程中对他有重要意义的人。这些人通过为他选择学习机会和创造学习环境来促进其学习。中介者在有效的学习过程中起关键作用，在文化的传承中起根本作用。因此，本文一个主要的假设是教师在课堂文化教学中的中介者角色对培养学生的社会文化能力，尤其在外语教学(EFL)环境中，有直接影响。本文通过对一个关于学生社会文化知识来源的问卷调查，一次基于大学英语课本的社会文化测试，一个教师中介作用的问卷调查及对一些受试教师的访谈的分析和研究，在很大程度上证明了这一假设。首先，作者在安徽财经大学非英语专业二年级随机抽取160名学生。对他们进行有关社会文化知识来源的问卷调查，在提供的8种可能的来源中，“教师”的平均点高于其它来源。接着，作者对受试者进行了一次基于《新视野大学英语》第四册(郑树棠)课本的社会文化测试。分别就交际文化中的非语言行为，语言行为以及文化背景知识进行测试。旨在反映出教师对学生社会文化知识掌握的中介作用的影响程度。随后，作者对受试班级的英语教师进行有关教师中介作用的问卷调查。第一部分检查教师对中介作用十二个方面重要性的看法；第二部分请教师自我评价在课堂教学中其中介作用各方面的实施情况。最后，作者选取了五位有代表性的教师进行访谈。旨在找出教学效果较好的教师在课堂文化教学中中介作用的共同规律以及教学效果不好的教师在课堂文化教学中存在的问题。
